Job responsibilities

• responsibility for operating the kilo-laboratory in the field of pharmaceutical ingredients, small molecules
• participation in the final set-up, qualifications, maintenance and operation of the kilo-laboratory in accordance with internal standard operating procedures, relevant regulations and cGMP norms and guidelines
• planning and, if necessary, carrying out the scale-up on the kilo-laboratory equipment
• cooperation in the processes transfer from the kilo laboratory to the pilot and industrial scale of production
• selection and evaluation of equipment for the kilo-laboratory, including the preparation of user requirements, proposing, and justifying the necessary CAPEX and OPEX
• preparation of scale-up and scale-down calculations so that the processes in the kilo-laboratory mirror the intended plant equipment (eg: stirring power calculations, heat balance calculations, distillation modelling, filtration modelling, mixing modelling, etc.), exploiting engineering calculations and dedicated software tools (e.g. Dynochem®, VisiMix®, MixIT®, etc.)
• participation to process related HAZOP analyses, FMEA, process review
• preparation of process-related documentation both internally and directly for customers

What we expect

• university degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or related field, PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering as a plus
• capability of handling automated/computerized PLC systems, to monitor and control the kilo-laboratory equipment
• good knowledge of Organic and Process Chemistry
• familiarity with Process Safety principles
• active knowledge of the English language
